Now and again one reads news of a good guy taking down one or more bad guys as they try to do their bad thing. It's often spoiled by the GASP! SHOCK! HORROR! reaction of the news media.
Many journalists seem congenitally incapable of understanding that a gun is neither good nor evil: it's morally neutral, an instrument in the hand of the user, who can decide whether to use it for good or bad ends.
In this case, two bad guys decided to use a gun for an evil end: and a good guy with a gun made sure that they came to a bad end instead.
The Walgreens customer who killed a would-be-robber Monday night has been cited for carrying a concealed weapon but won't face a charge in the shooting.
Harry J. McCullough III, 32, had a permit to carry a loaded handgun in plain view — typically in a holster — but did not have a concealed weapons permit, said Omaha Police Officer Jacob Bettin.
McCullough pulled his handgun from the waistband of his pants when he shot and killed Marquail Thomas, a shotgun-wielding 18-year-old and would-be-robber at the Walgreens in Benson Monday night, Bettin said.
McCullough was not arrested in connection with Thomas' death, and Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Tuesday afternoon that he would not file charges in connection with the shooting.
Bettin said two masked men had entered the Walgreens at 6101 Northwest Radial shortly before 9 p.m.
He said one of the men pointed the shotgun in the direction of the cash register, where several customers were standing in line.
McCullough fired several shots as the shotgun-wielding suspect pointed his weapon at customers. Thomas was hit several times. He fled from the store but collapsed outside.
McCullough then grabbed a second masked man and held him until police arrived, Bettin said.
Thomas was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The second suspect, who authorities identified as 17-year-old Angelo Douglas, was booked into the Douglas County Youth Center on suspicion of robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Nebraska law allows individuals to use force when their life or another person's life is threatened.
It was a very close call . . . one of Mr. McCullough's bullets was reportedly found embedded inside the barrel of Mr. Thomas' shotgun. In other words, the latter was pointing his gun directly at the former, and fortunately was rendered incapable of firing it by his wounds. Things don't get much closer than that!
I'm also pleased to note, in another report, that Mr. McCullough (who was initially cited for the misdemeanor offense of carrying his handgun concealed, rather than openly) won't be charged after all. The DA's office reviewed security video footage of the incident and determined that although his gun was shoved into his waistband, it was still visible, and therefore could be counted as open rather than concealed carry.

What If ?????
What if billboards were put up all through Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada pointing the way to San Francisco for all illegal aliens?
These would be written in Spanish so the illegal aliens can read them.
They would also feature plenty of large, colorful pictures for anyone who might be completely illiterate.
Each billboard would be like those signs in the mall that say YOU ARE HERE and direct you to the food court with big arrows and simple directions.
The billboards would depict San Francisco as the greatest utopia on Earth ... a sanctuary city where illegals’ dreams all come true, and the Liberals entrenched there welcome all criminals with wide-open arms and faces stained with joyful tears.
Come to San Francisco, lawbreakers.
Come to the Bay Area, anyone who doesn’t believe they have to follow US law.
San Francisco is calling, so bitch, ya’ll best answer da phone.

A New Supreme Court Justice...
I'm going to copy-and-paste something I came across a few years ago, because it fits so perfectly here now that Justice Stevens is retiring. With Obama in the White House and both houses of Congress with Democrat majorities, I'll go out on a limb here and predict that the next nominee will make the retiring "most liberal justice" look like Barry Goldwater.
The founding document of this nation is a legal CONTRACT. This is a point that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia keeps making time and time again in his public speaking. "How," he once asked an audience rhetorically, "do you write a moderate contract?" And if the courts can decide that the words in a contract can mean whatever they want them to mean, then the contract isn't worth the paper it's written on:
If we're picking people to draw out of their own conscience and experience a 'new' Constitution, we should not look principally for good lawyers. We should look to people who agree with us. When we are in that mode, you realize we have rendered the Constitution useless.

Time to Think About What Just Happened...
The important item to note isn't the passage of the bill; it's the way in which it was passed.
Putting the backroom deals right out in the open and completely ignoring the will of the people, coupled with procedural shenanigans are far more chilling issues to contemplate.
A horribly-corrupt Republic may have some shady things going on, but they will be in the shade.
When the politicians no longer feel the need to even attempt to hide their contempt for the people, that really indicates that the system has moved from "corrupt Republic" to "properly-functioning Tyranny."
November is important.
I have doubts whether there's anything left to save, but if we're even going to do as little as slow the collapse, we need to send a message that the experiment with Tyranny is over.
Most of the incumbents need to be kicked out. Where possible, replaced with better candidates. Where not, they still need to be kicked out.
Chemotherapy is deadly poison, but it treats many cancers where otherwise surgery is the only option.
Putting in slightly-worse candidates may be a bit of "poison," but if that's the only way to remove a cancerous incumbent, it still needs to be done.
Because we all know what "surgery" would entail in this metaphor, and anyone with the least bit of sense is going to do his/her best to avoid that path.

Good Morning American Subjects!
This morning we woke up to a fundamentally different country.
Here's some things to think about.
We are no longer Citizens... like it or not, we've just been made Subjects.
The Government controls our health care, they control us.
They own you...
This can't stand.
Come November these Democrats are going to be glad they have this health care, because they are going to need it.... because they are about to fall on their own swords.
People are very unhappy about this.
People on both sides of the great party divide... it's time for all those people to take action. Actively seek out ways to remove from office anyone that voted for this bill.
The Government just overstepped it's bounds and authority... this is a criminal act.
Show me in the Constitution where it gives the Government the right to order you to buy something... because if you don't buy health insurance now – you will face huge fines.
You could face jail.
Because you didn't buy Insurance. You didn't buy. You didn't spend your own money on what you wanted or needed – you have to buy health insurance. You might go hungry, but now at least you can see a doctor about it.
- Oh wait... you can't... because now we are going to see Rationing.
The Doctors are going to be busy with people going in for Splinters, Headaches, Gas, or that Liver Spot.
So between the rationing and the people going in for every little thing... your in trouble.
Imagine if the Government said that you have to buy a Government Motors vehicle? If you don't you face fines. Doesn't matter if you needed it or not. If you live downtown and don't need a car... or if you already have a car, you don't have the right car. And if your car has a problem, such as you need new brake pads or tires... you have to buy a Government Motors car... You don't have a choice.
Never mind that there is no way to pay for this Criminal Abuse of Power.
This Nation is looking at bankruptcy.
This nation is going to have to cut back some huge expenditures... such as the Military.
Let's take a look at two nations that have Socialized Health Care. Canada.
They have no ability to project military power to enforce their national policy and protect their overseas interests.
Look at the UK. Very small scale ability... very limited... they can defend themselves but they can't project force independent of the US.
Think we are going to be able to in the future?
We are going to lose our National Strength.
We are going to have to let our Armed Forces atrophy and decay... because we can't afford to keep up our level of strength.
This is going to allow CHINA to become the Number One Super Power.
Congratulations Democrats... Your Criminal Abuse of Power has just RUINED everything that made America Great.

Test Follows....be Prepared!
Something has been on my mind for quite a while now and since it's a slow day here I thought I would get it off my chest...
There is a prevalent thought in the defense world that you need to turn and put distance between you and your attacker. So prevalent that this has become an acceptable response both amongst instructors and even legislators to where we have become ingrained that our first obligation is to flee.
Think for a second of this scenario whether you are a man or woman.
You come home late at night through the front door, pull the key out of the lock, and walk to the other end of the house. Something doesn't seem right and you look back behind you to see a 6'5" 230lbs male in a ski mask with a 10 inch bladed knife between you and the door.
Before you go into that clearing of the holster of that gun you may or may not be wearing. Break down your own personal mindset here.
The initial sucking in of air and "oh shit" is completely allowed because we all (and I do mean a-l-l) get caught off guard in life - but the next response should be in your head should be:
"GO!"
and by "GO!" I mean you need to have a mind set of being able to Go-straight-at-him with a total intent on leaving him dead on the floor.
Whether you are a man or a woman.
Do you have the mind set to accomplish the task at hand? Have you practiced or run drills with this scenerio?

Meditations on Civility
When the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution of the United States, dueling was dueling was an accepted and honourable fact of life, in fact, three of our Founding Fathers met their deaths in duels.
Insults, mockery, verbal abuse -- all and more were accepted grounds for an issuance of an invitation to a morning round of "Pistols for two; coffee for one".
When the First Amendment Freedom of Speech was added to the Constitution, it was as the first of the Bill of Rights -- controls upon the government. The government would not be allowed to abridge the right of free men to speak their minds.
At the time it was abundantly clear that -- through the mechanism of dueling -- society would provide a check upon the abuses of Freedom of Speech by way of dueling.
In simpler language, if a citizen were to use their guaranteed right to Freedom of Speech to insult, abuse, denigrate, mock, harass or distress another -- then sooner or later that citizen was going to get the stupid beaten out of him with a cane, bleed out on a Vidalia sandbar from multiple knife wounds, wind up skewered on the end of a sword, or simply have a large percentage of their vital bits blown out through their spines by way of a heavy-calibre pistol ball.
In the America of the Founding Fathers you were polite and courteous, or you got your butt killed in a duel.
Which worked remarkably well, up until we decided that we was civilized and did away with the barbarity of the duel.
Probably not a bad idea -- except that we never came up with a replacement for the check on incivility that the duel gave society as a whole. We left the right to speak your mind, but we took away any deterrent to being a jackass about it.

What We Have...Is A Failure...To Communicate!!
I heard a preacher say one time that America didn't need more laws.
...IT NEEDED MORE SUPPER TABLES.
And you know what? He was right.
If more people sat down and ate just one meal once a day with the children they've spawned, America would be better off in terms of teenage literacy, school performance, diets, nutrition and a whole list of other social things.
But then that would require - first of all -
(1) that the physical mother and father actually live together,
(2) one of them actually knew how to prepare a nutritious meal without the aid of fast-food or something already prepared in a bag, and
(3) they had a supper table where everyone would take the time to gather around instead of satisfying their own immediate selfish wants.

Why is BHO Hiding Under His Desk?
In major cases, it’s typical for the Justice Department to file a brief informing the Supreme Court of the position of the United States. The Office of the Solicitor General -- the elite legal team that represents the federal government whenever the United States is a party in a Supreme Court case -- routinely files briefs in high-profile cases.
McDonald is as high-profile is it gets. It presents the question of whether the Second Amendment, like the First Amendment, is a right that law-abiding citizens have against state and local laws, or if, instead, it’s only a right they have against the federal government alone. The entire Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment, originally only applied to the federal government. When the Fourteenth Amendment was adopted in 1868 after the Civil War, it extended most—but not all—of the Bill of Rights to also apply to cities and states.
Given that there are over 90 million gun owners in this country and thousands of gun control laws on the books—most of them state or local laws—McDonald is a monumental case.
So what is the position of the Obama administration? How can he oppose the rights of 90 million Americans, many of whom are blue collar union workers in swing states that he needs to win in 2012? To do so would also help drive Democrats into the minority in the 2010 midterm elections. On the other hand, how can he reverse his position of more than a decade in supporting Chicago’s absolute ban on firearms?

Morality
I was raised understanding that a man did for himself, and only asked for help when he had to. This went hand in hand with the idea that you always helped your neighbor when they asked, because they wouldn’t ask if they didn’t really need it. That and it was part of the contract that they would be there when you asked in return. This contract has fallen by the wayside in our society, in many places. Too many now demand ‘help’ with every problem real or perceived, and too many honestly believe that ‘help’ is owed them by society for some unknown reason. Far too often, ‘help’ is defined as ‘Someone come and do this for me because I don’t want to!’
I carry a weapon because I believe a person has a moral responsibility to take care of themselves and not be a burden on others. The pistol I carry on my belt, and the rifles and shotguns stored in my safes, are nothing more than tools needed to meet my responsibility. This is not a responsibility that can be relieved by some fool wishing it so and announcing it.
It’s a moral obligation that can only be self imposed, self delivered, and self administered.

How Much Can Any One Person Take?
Yesterday's unfortunate events, Plane Crash Suspect's Online Diatribe; Posting rages at IRS... , show that some people can be pushed only so far before they experience a catastrophic failure. Will this be the first of many manifestations of anger? How soon before this pervasive anger reaches critical mass among the population? This should be a wake-up call to TPTB, but it won't, only an excuse for more surveillance and draconian actions which will increase the anger! Remember what caused the French Revolution?

January 28, 1986 – Space Shuttle Challenger explodes after launch, killing the entire crew. American’s stared in shock at their televisions watching the Challenger accident in full motion video.
The 35th Challenger’s flight had been previously scheduled for January 22, but delayed because of bad weather, high winds and icicles on the launch apparatus. Never had there been a launch approved in freezing weather conditions, but NASA had assured the public that the conditions were safe. They were anxious to launch due to economic considerations and scheduling backlogs.
Political pressure has been suggested as well due to NASA’s heavy publicizing of Christa McAuliffe as the first school teacher in space. She had been selected under a highly competitive process from among 10,000 entries for the opportunity. The Challenger disaster was a severe blow to the American space program, bringing manned flights to a halt for many years. It was also a blow to the American public who had come to think of the Space Shuttle as an important symbol of national identify.
Speaking before the launch, Christa McAuliffe said: “One of the things I hope to bring back into the classroom is to make that connection with the students that they too are part of history, the space program belongs to them and to try to bring them up with the space age.”

Remembering Apollo 1
On January 27th, 1967, three US astronauts were burned to death when their Apollo 1 capsule caught fire during a ground test.
Lieutenant-Colonel Virgil I. 'Gus' Grissom, USAF, Lieutenant-Colonel Edward H. White II, USAF, and Lieutenant-Commander Roger B. Chaffee, USN, were performing a 'plugs-out' test of the capsule, in which it was disconnected from external power and resources and functioned on its own internal systems. As the subsequent inquiry would show, there were serious flaws in the capsule's design, not least of which was, as Wikipedia points out:
Following a worldwide survey of artificial oxygen-rich environments, it was found that rarely if ever had a 100% oxygen environment been created and maintained at such a high pressure, in which a bar of aluminum can burn like wood.
It was never determined precisely what started the fire. Many defects in design and workmanship probably contributed. Its results were tragic. All three astronauts died within seconds.
Following the tragedy, numerous improvements and modifications were made to the Apollo capsule, subsequent examples of which went on to reach the Moon and enabled astronauts to land there.
Today, Launch Complex 34 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida is deserted, most of its structures demolished. Two plaques adorn one of the base pillars.
Let us remember their sacrifice with all honor.

How Are They Going to Twist This ???
A Roseville man escaped his crushed vehicle that was trapped underwater by an unusual method: gunfire.
Authorities said the 28-year-old man was driving in his station wagon on Industrial Avenue on the bridge over Pleasant Grove Creek when a hands-free cell phone device activated, startling him and causing the vehicle to veer into the chilly waters just before 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
The man, employed as an armed security officer at Thunder Valley Casino, found himself trapped inside his car about six to eight feet below the surface in the 50-degree water.
The Roseville Fire Department said the man used his handgun to shoot out his vehicle window, giving himself an opportunity to escape and swim to safety.
The man flagged down a passing vehicle and was treated for minor injuries by emergency crews.

Why Can't they Learn???
Not long after the Ayatollah Khomeini announced his fatwa against Salman Rushdie, the British novelist suddenly turned up on a Muslim radio station in West London late one night and told his interviewer he'd converted to Islam. Barack Obama has spent the past year doing big-time Islamoschmoozing, from his announcement of Gitmo's closure and his investigation of Bush officials, to his bow before the Saudi king and a speech in Cairo to "the Muslim world" with far too many rhetorical concessions and equivocations.

Just what is a FELON anyways?
In my personal opinion, a felony is a crime so heinous it generally results in the possibility of the death penalty or life in prison.
...life in prison...
Someone who commits a felony should be considered dangerous to society at large, and, for example, dealing in cat pelts doesn't quite rise to that level, yet it's a felony here in my home state.
Instead, we've declared writing a bad check for over $500 to be a felony. It's a crime, no doubt, but not one where someone should be punished for the rest of their lives.
The fact that you can have your right to vote restored, but not your Second Amendment rights without going through a near impossible dog and pony show.
I can hear some people now. "are you saying you want to give felons guns????". No, they can buy their own.
What I’m saying is this, and it’s a pretty easy concept to explain...
If you are such a danger to society that simply being in a home with a firearm is a crime, you should not be out loose in society.
Period.
We release people from jail because we consider them to no longer be a threat to those around them. If they are a threat, why are they out in the first place???
Gun control is closing the barn doors well after the horses have all hightailed it out of Dodge.
Attempting to ensure dangerous people don’t do dangerous things by making laws that they can’t be near a single, dangerous item is idiocy and madness rolled up in one.
Let’s look at all the other deadly things felons are legally allowed to do
Purchase cutlery
Obtain large quantities of flammable liquids as well as fire instigation devices
Take martial arts classes
Meander through public with their hands unbound
Operate a deadly assault vehicle
Maintain access to a vast array of chemical agents
Now, if 'giving felons guns' was such a dangerous concept, why would we still allow them the ability to cause harm and mayhem with the preceding list?
In summary, we're too fast and loose with the term felony and if a person is a danger to society, they shouldn't be in society.

Big Brother is Watching Y O U !!!!
"I wasn't ready to publicize this," Executive Assistant Police Chief Martha Montalvo said. She and other department leaders hastily organized a news conference when they realized the local news channel had captured the entire event on camera.
"We still haven't even decided how we were going to go forward on this task, so it seemed premature to me to announce this to the media," Montalvo said. "But since, obviously, the media found out about it, then I don't see any reason why just not go forward with what we have so far."
Montalvo told reporters the unmanned aircraft would be used for "mobility" or traffic issues, evacuations during storms, homeland security, search and rescue, and also "tactical." She admitted that could include covert police actions.
A large number of the officers at the test site were assigned to the department's ticket-writing Radar Task Force. Montalvo insisted they were only there to provide "site security," even though KPRC cameras spotted those officers heavily participating in the test flight.

Muslim Heritage Day????

Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution? Declaration of Independence? Bill of Rights? Didn't think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country's freedom from England? No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own 'half brother' a devout Muslim still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family's "rich Islamic heritage" doesn't it Mr. Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present. There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so that often they are beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights aren't they?
Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the middle east. No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very "moderate" Muslims who's asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11.
To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here in America.
And now we can add November 5, 2009-- the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

are we Patriots, or mice?
The true measure of the patriot is steadfastness.
We all have small moments of wanderlust in us, tearing off on solitary paths that others may not follow, testing limits, testing ourselves.
That is the nature of man.
Yet when we strive to hold true, to stand firm to our beliefs as free men, together, to carry our weapons and defend our land, the weak become strong, and the wandering hold together as one. For then we are united in something much greater than the elemental whims of man.
Together as patriots, we are much more of the courageous and less of the selfish, we are brothers in arms.

Where and When did we Lose Control...
The Declaration of Independence states that governments derive “their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
The American understanding of democracy does not envision voters as slaves who enjoy the privilege of voting for a new master every few years. When the Declaration speaks of the right – and, later the duty– of the people to abolish tyrannical governments, it renders the notion of “mandates” to impose radical change on unwilling citizens absurd.
The vital role of consent in the structure of a just government is one of the most powerful ideas ever advanced by the human race.
On the other hand, the belief that consent can be manufactured by democratic majorities is one of the most cherished illusions of activist government.
The dissent of a minority is not rendered irrelevant by victory in a popular vote…
but the health-care debate in the Senate proceeds on the assumption that victory in a parliamentary struggle between a hundred elected officials will compel the consent of the millions of citizens – now a sizable majority of the population, based on the latest polls – who strenuously object to ObamaCare.
If Senate Democrats win this debate, huge amounts of our liberty will be destroyed, and vast sums of money will be seized from taxpayers… and we will not be allowed to object.
Any attempt to withhold your consent from this economy-shattering, life-changing radical legislation will end with you sitting in a prison cell.

Why I Celebrate
The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, with the sun at its lowest and weakest. In the Northern Hemisphere it usually occurs around December 21st.
In pagan Scandinavia the winter festival was the Yule, celebrated by burning the hearth fires of the magically significant Yule log. In the Celtic Druid culture, the Winter Solstice was celebrated by hanging sacred mistletoe over a doorway or in a room to offer goodwill to visitors. Germanic tribes decorated a pine or fir tree with candles and tokens. The Inca held midwinter ceremonies at temples that served as astronomical observatories like Machu Pichu.
Romans celebrated this event with Saturnalia, a festival of merrymaking, and decorating their homes and temples with holly and evergreens. Also popular was the exchange of small gifts thought to bring luck on the recipient.
In the fourth century AD, Christian authorities in Rome attempted to eliminate the pagan festivities by adopting December 25th as Christ's birthday. The effort was never completely successful, and eventually many Winter Solstice customs were incorporated into Christmas observances.
Since so many of these traditions have persisted for thousands of years despite extensive efforts to eliminate them, I think it best to celebrate the Winter Solstice with these ancient customs, recognizing our links to the rest of humanity, past and present.

It's BROKE!!!!
The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - you've had 234 years to get it right; it's broke.
Social Security was established in 1935 - you've had 74 years to get it right; it's broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - you've had 71 years to get it right; it's broke.
The "War on Poverty" started in 1964 - you've had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked and our entire country is broke.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - you've had 44 years to get it right; they're both broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - you've had 39 years to get it right; it's broke.
Trillions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the "Stimulus", the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009.... none show any signs of working, although ACORN appears to have found a new source: the American taxpayer.
And finally, to set a new record: "Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese.
A good percentage of the profits went out of the country.
And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress' generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.
So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that "services" you shove down our throats are failing faster and faster, you want Americans to believe you can be trusted with a government-run health care system?

Situational Awareness
In a way, the USA has been undergoing a series of scaled down, non-religious and apolitical terror events for over 20 years.
After each event, the sheeple bleat for stricter gun control laws.
Until now the perpetrators were disgruntled employees (hence the term "going postal") or had heads full of bad wiring.
No more.
The Ft. Hood Massacre involved radical Islam and, IMHO, an individual who did not want to be a part of having harm come to his brothers in the Mideast.
So he killed and wounded his brothers and sisters in arms!

When someone asked a Fort Hood spokesman why there was no soldier with a gun among the crowd to stop the religious fanatic, the spokesman almost indignantly replied that they didn’t need to be armed, because at the base they were “at home.”
Someone might have told him that so many of us “backwoods home” folks DO keep guns at home for protection, because self-protection is already there and “official protection” takes time to arrive.
At Ft. Hood it took some three minutes.

Heart Burn !!!
I can imagine nothing more horrible than to return from the hellish meat-grinder of the Sandbox only to fall before the terrorist next door, one of our own.
God, to say that our hearts go out to the fallen at Ft. Hood is such empty comfort, such shallow words! And yet there is so little else we can do, aid we can render.
Some thoughts, while our hearts bleed:
1) The international terrorist conspiracy doesn't issue membership cards, and you don't have to fill out an application to join. All you have to do is be willing to kill the infidel...that would be us.
2) Yes, the shooter was "crazy," but let's be honest here...in a war that encourages young women to strap on suicide vests and kill civilian children, then calls those said women "soldiers," crazy has lost a lot of its original meaning.
3) As I watched CNN this AM, I saw General Cone simpering from the lectern about 'We don't go armed around here, this is our home,' which caused me to look at the loaded pistol on the nightstand in bafflement. The military elected to disarm a roomful of shooters, the best of us — how'd that work out?
Gun-free zones kill people!
4) Never, never, never forget that your safety is on you and you alone, every day, every moment of the day, in your workplace, in your home, in the places you think are the safest.
And never, never. never forget that the enemy is among us.

I Guess I Failed Math in High School...
Barack Hussein Obama was sworn into the office of the President of the United States on January 20th of this year.
The Nobel Committee ceased taking nominations on February 1st. Same year.
Now, check my math, but I believe that is about eleven (11) days -- more or less.
Prior to being President, Barack Obama had a fairly normal run as a Federal Senator -- some more lustrous, some less so -- and before that he was a State Senator and a "community organizor".

Eleven days.

Why I own an (many) assault weapon(s)...
Every now and again someone asks me why I own a so-called assault weapon.
My reply: Because I can. I'm a freeman, haven't hurt anyone. I enjoy the look, feel and bang of my HK91.
That reply never suffices. I can tell by the look on their faces that they want more justification, fiber to my reply.
I then tell them that I like books as well, and that I'm against banning books. Thoughts, I tell them, can be quite dangerous in the wrong brains. Nevertheless, I state that anyone who supports banning books (thoughts) must have a different view of the first amendment than me.
That still doesn't quench his or her first why someone would want a gun that is so seemingly menacing and deadly.
I then ask them to tell me what an assault weapon is. I do this to gauge their level of knowledge regarding these guns. They typically cannot put a sentence together that accurately describes these guns. Quite often, these individuals use the words "machine gun" when describing assault weapons.
I then ask them if they know that their local Wal Mart sells more deadly and accurate guns than the guns President Clinton banned. That shocks them. Many do not believe me. I then offer to take them to Wal Mart and give them a basic lesson in firearms. None have ever taken me up on my offer.
I also ask them if they know the difference between a machine gun and a semi-automatic gun. Most do not. I explain the difference and that so-called assault weapons are semi-automatic. Some actually get angry with me because of their fundamental lack of firearm knowledge. I let them get angry. I have learned that some people experience great pain when exposed to facts and common sense.
I then tell them tongue in cheek that there are any number of things that we could ban that would make America much safer than banning so-called assault weapons, which, I tell them are rarely used in crime. I invite them to call their local police department and ask how many crimes were committed with so-called assault weapons over the past year. I doubt they ever make that call. Ignorance is comfortable and easy.
Let's start with cars. Why should America make any car that will travel over 75 mph? I tell them there have been any number of studies that indicate faster speeds equate to more accidents, injuries and death.
Throw booze in on top of fast cars and now you've really got a deadly combination. I ask them if they know how many people are mangled, injured and killed because of cars and booze. They never know this, so I tell them. I then ask them if they support banning fast cars and booze.
I also tell them that cigarettes and fattening food are the number one killers in America. Knowing that, I ask them if they believe we should regulate or out-right ban McDonalds, Burger King, etc. They typically stammer around and mumble something along the lines of ".of course not. That's a personal choice."
"Exactly," I reply. "Welcome to America."

I remember a time when "Right was right and Wrong was wrong". I remember when people were proud to say, "I'm an American" and didn't travel around the globe apologizing to tin pot dictators.
When we defeated enemies we didn't occupy their lands, we actually helped them to rebuild.
When the French gave up, "We" built the Panama Canal. Then I remember another "dismal" president giving it away. During this same presidents tenure, we were laughed at so hard by other rouge states that they destroyed our embassy and took our diplomats hostage.
The world consists of predators. It doesn't matter if they are punks on a city street or an insane nation. The only thing that these predators respect is power. The muzzle of a gun or an aircraft carrier battle group, it all comes down to power.
Funny, the day Ronald Reagan took office, was the day the bastards freed our hostages. Funny how under Reagan and capitalism, the Warsaw pact, and the Berlin Wall crumbled. It was funny how those of us serving in the military stood a little taller and the flag waved a bit prouder.

Another History Lesson
When you take money from the rich and give it to the poor, you only encourage people to be poor.
Then the poor keep voting to give the government more and more power, willingly giving up their rights, because they rely on the government to care for them.
Government loves this because all it really wants to do is control the people. This is also commonly referred to as wealth redistribution.
You know who is really, really good at forced wealth redistribution? SOCIALISTS and COMMUNISTS.
And despite lots of good intentions and far too many attempts, history tells us that it never ends well.

New Laws
I'm not of big fan of enacting new legislation, but for some time now I have been seeing a part of social interaction which is sadly deficient in controlling laws.
I hereby propose that Chapter 50 be added to the Florida Penal Code, simply titled: "Stupidity".
While it may be tempting to start this new chapter with general "Misdemeanor Stupidity" followed up by "Felony Stupidity", I have noticed that in a lot of cases, violating the Stupidity Statutes tends to be a self-correcting problem.
No, Gentle Readers, I have decided -- this very day, as a matter-of-fact -- that Chapter 50 only needs to consist of two charges:
1) Failure To Mind Your Own Business; and
2) Aggravated Failure To Mind Your Own Business.
The elements of the misdemeanor offence would be as follows:
A person, at a time and a place;intentionally or knowingly;involves himself in the affairs of a second or third party;when a reasonable man would decide it isn't the first person's business;and by such involvement tends to cause a breach of the peace.

The elements of the felony offence would be the same as above, only replace the last line with:"and such involvement causes the risk of death, serious bodily injury or the felony arrest of one or both of the involved parties."
As an example -- a creative articulation -- here is "Joe". Some years ago "Joe" and his daughter "Shannon" had a falling out, leading to Shannon running off to California, vowing Never To Return.Time, distance, and the arrival of a grand-daughter has mellowed the relationship between "Joe" and "Shannon" enough that "Shannon" and her daughter have moved back to town.All is peachy and keen ... until "Chuck" hears from his sister's daughter's boyfriend's second-cousin-twice-removed's baby-sitter that "Shannon" has apparently taken up with a non-mainstream, somewhat untraditional religion."Chuck" -- bearing in mind that while he is a work buddy to "Joe", he is not a relative, nor would he actually recognize "Shannon" if her were to bump into her on the street -- breaks the news to "Joe" about his daughters choice in religion over a beer in the parking lot after work, and follows up with what seems to have been a truly awe-inspiring recital of those things what "everybody knows" about them "damn witches".Let us say that "Joe" is inspired enough by this performance that he takes about $41.00 worth of gasoline, throws it upon the porch of his daughters rented house, and follows it up with a lit road flare.In this -- hypothetical -- case, "Joe" would be arrested for Arson and "Chuck" would be arrested for Aggravated Failure To Mind His Own Goddess-be-damned Business.
I realize that some of the elements of this offence must be fine-tuned, but for too long have busy-bodies been nosing off into others peoples business thereby causing hate, discontent, heartburn and police involvement -- and the time is now to start making them shoulder some of the responsibility for the result.

It is the Right of Revolution
Why Liberals Should Love The Second Amendment
Liberals love the Constitution.
Ask anyone on the street.
They'll tell you the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a liberal organization. I know liberal couples who give each other pocket size copies of the Constitution for Christmas. Ask liberals to list their top five complaints about the Bush Administration, and they will invariably say the words "shredding" and "Constitution" in the same sentence. They might also add "Fourth Amendment" and "due process." It's possible they'll talk about "free speech zones" and "habeus corpus." There's a good chance they will mention, probably in combination with several FCC-prohibited adjectives, the former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.So.
Liberals love the Constitution.

They love all the Amendments.
Except for one: the Second Amendment.[...]
All of our rights, even the ones enumerated in the Bill of Rights, are restricted. You can't shout "Fire!" in a crowd. You can't threaten to kill the president. You can't publish someone else's words as your own. We have copyright laws and libel laws and slander laws. We have the FCC to regulate our radio and television content. We have plenty of restrictions on our First Amendment rights. But we don't like them. We fight them. Any card-carrying member of the ACLU will tell you that while we might agree that some restrictions are reasonable, we keep a close eye whenever anyone in government gets an itch to pass a new law that restricts our First Amendment rights. Or our Fourth. Or our Fifth, Sixth, or Eighth. We complain about free speech zones. The whole country is supposed to be a free speech zone, after all. It says so right in the First Amendment.
But when it comes to the Second Amendment...You could hear a pin drop for all the protest you'll get from liberals when politicians talk about further restrictions on the manufacture, sale, or possession of firearms. Suddenly, overly broad restrictions are "reasonable." The Washington D.C. ban on handguns -- all handguns -- is reasonable. (Later this year, the Supreme Court will quite likely issue an opinion to the contrary in the Heller case.)
Would we tolerate such a sweeping regulation of, say, the Thirteenth Amendment? Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. What if a politician -- say, a Republican from a red state in the south -- were to introduce a bill that permits enslaving black women? Would we consider that reasonable? It's not like the law would enslave all people, or even all black people. Just the women. There's no mention of enslaving women in the Thirteenth Amendment. Clearly, when Lincoln wanted to free the slaves, he didn't intend to free all the slaves. And we restrict all the other Amendments, so obviously the Thirteenth Amendment is not supposed to be absolute. What's the big deal?Ridiculous, right? We'd take to the streets, we'd send angry letters to our representatives in Washington, we'd call our progressive radio programs to quote, verbatim, the Thirteenth Amendment. Quite bluntly, although not literally, we'd be up in arms. (Yeah, pun intended.)And yet...A ban on all handguns seems reasonable to many liberals. Never mind that of 192 million firearms in America, 65 million -- about one third -- are handguns.This hardly seems consistent.Indeed!
And this conclusion:
In no other country, at no other time, has such a right existed. It is not the right to hunt. It is not the right to shoot at soda cans in an empty field. It is not even the right to shoot at a home invader in the middle of the night. It is the right of revolution.

Interesting Times Ahead
An interesting analogy:
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas Rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.
Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid for the presidency.
The old rancher said,"Well, ya know, Obama is a post turtle." Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.The old rancher said "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle."
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there, and you wonder what king of dumb ass put him up there."
Interesting times ahead.

Where Have The Heros Gone?
Fighting legends
In the early days, legionnaires were looked down upon by other French forces.
And, because their code of honour is to never surrender arms, they were often quite literally used as cannon fodder.
Yet despite this level of devotion to France, foreign legionnaires were forbidden from stepping on French soil. In time, however, this would change.
In Mexico, during the Battle of Camarón on 30 April 1863, the Legion’s reputation for being a dispensable unit of undesirables was suddenly elevated to its now highly respected status as a fighting force to be reckoned with.
A small infantry patrol led by Capitane Danjou was attacked and besieged by three battalions of the Mexican infantry and cavalry. Danjou’s men were forced to make a defence in the Hacienda Camarón near Puebla.
It was 62 legionnaires and three officers against more than 2000 Mexican soldiers.
Legend has it that despite being hopelessly outnumbered, the legionnaires kept the Mexicans at bay for more than a day, refusing to surrender.
When the last of the men had run out of ammunition, they fixed bayonets and charged their enemy.
When asked to surrender again, the legionnaires demanded to be allowed safe passage home and to take with them the French flag and the body of their fallen capitane.
Out of respect for their courage, the Mexican commander agreed to their terms, commenting 'These are not men, they are devils.'
The battle, the name of which now adorns the Legion’s flag, remains symbolic of their vow never to give up arms. It was the turning point for the Legion.
Camarón Day, celebrated every year on 30 April, is a special day for the Legion, when the wooden prosthetic hand of Danjou is taken down from its place of honour and displayed, as the men remember their fallen heroes.
This same scenario is undoubtedly being relived as we speak in the sandbox. How long it will take for the heroic actions that our troops are performing daily to be published for the world to see and appreciate is unknown...

And when I say any cell-phone I mean just that: any functioning cell-phone can be used to contact 911.
If the battery has enough charge to hit a tower, and the phone works, you can dial 911 on it.
Doesn't matter if you cancelled your service -- you can dial 911 on it.
Doesn't matter if your service cancelled your service -- you can dial 911 on the cell-phone.
Doesn't matter if you've never even had a service -- you can still dial 911 on that phone.
Run over your allotted time limit? You can still dial 911.
The cell-phone company got you cut off until you pay them both legs, one arm and your first-born? You can still dial 911.
Yes, you can buy a pay-as-you-go phone -- but never buy any minutes -- and you can still dial 911.

What THEY Don't want you to know...
JERUSALEM (AP) -- A gunman infiltrated a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem and opened fire in a library Thursday night, killing at least seven people, officials said.
Rescue workers said at least 10 people were wounded. Government spokesman Daniel Seaman and police said there was only one gunman though initial reports said there were two....
Yitzhak Dadon, a seminary student, said he was armed with a rifle and waited on the roof of a nearby building during the attack.
"He came out of the library spraying automatic fire. ... The terrorist came to the entrance and I shot him twice in the head," he said.
Funny how the AP news reports here missed that little tidbit and the end and never reported it...
And this one.

What is this? Responsible gun carry by - of all people - EDUCATORS and CIVILIAN BY-STANDERS??? Can this be true?
One can only wonder at what the body count might have been had there not been responsible gun carrying civilians on the scene...

Have we gotten so far from nature that we have lost the ability to fight for our lives?
Last week, Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina ran an emergency response drill. A campus police officer posing as a gunman burst into a classroom, where he proceeded to hold the students hostage and terrorize them with a fake gun for 10 minutes.
Not one of the students fought back.
Not one thought to pick up a chair or a desk, or even a book, to defend themselves. They all lined up against a wall and passively waited for death.
One of the students said, "I was prepared to die at that moment."
Several students say they considered leaping from a window.
A mouse has more courage than that.
Against insurmountable odds, it will growl at you and be prepared to fight, even to its death.
The college students who meekly bared their throats to those who wanted to rip them out are dead already - they just don't know it.
The will to live is life. - never forget that!
